Students are busy writing Provincial Exams today and tomorrow. Friday is a turn around day and students will not have classes. Regular classes resume on Monday, the start of Semester 2. If you son or daughter has an afternoon exam and they normally ride the bus, you may want to check with them to ensure that they will have enough time to write their provincial exam. Students are allowed 3 hours to complete their provincial exams, so if they need all of the time it may be good to arrange alternative transportation if they feel that they'll need the extra time. Thanks for working with us to ensure that your kids have the best opportunity to be successful!

I had a meeting with our Technology Committee today and we are looking at initiating an I-Pad Project here at PHSS. We have some ground work left to do, but it seems like an exciting possibility. I am off to another meeting (Secondary Principals' Meeting) in Sechelt shortly. It is starting off to be a busy week. Just a reminder that we have provincial exams this week and Friday is a Turn-Around Day, so students have the day off. Semester 2 starts on Monday, January 30th! It is hard to believe that we are halfway through the year. For your information, we will be sending out a newsletter, along with report cards, early in February. Have a good evening.

The Dynamo played a fantastic game defeating Mr. Mo's squad in convincing 5-1 win in today's PHL Final. It was an exciting season and all students and staff who participated had a great time. Next up is the PHL Indoor Soccer World Cup!

We have a resilient staff and study body, that weathered the power outage and lack of water, due to the loss of power this morning, here at Pender Harbour Secondary. I appreciated the great work of our SD 46 electrician, Jim Cooper, who worked with BC Hydro to rectify the problem in an expeditious fashion. Hopefully the rest of the day will go smoothly.

I had a busy day which started with a call indicating that we were short a TOC today. With some juggling and cooperation, from some of our part-time staff, we were able to make it work today. I was able to do an observation in one of our classes, which went really well. After lunch hour supervision I covered two classes. It certainly was action packed. Until tomorrow. Mr. H

The PHSS Junior Girls' basketball team won a thriller vs Carson Graham today 35-33. Makenzie Stewart hit a 3 point shot in the last 2 minutes of the game and also hit 2 free throws to give the home team the edge. Carson Graham had several opportunities to tie the game in the last minute but Pender played some solid defence, not allowing Graham to come back. Great job girls!!! Bravo!!

Mr. Greg Kitchen , our new Assistant Superintendent, visited Pender today along with, our Superintendent, Patrick Bocking. He commented on how pleasant out students seemed and he felt that the school climate was excellent. I appreciated his kind words, which made me feel proud to be part of Pender Harbour Secondary.
