Miss Mullins set up a game of Jeopardy to quiz her Biology 12 students on various concepts. The game was fun and interesting for the students and it reinforced many concepts in the Biology 12 curriculum. Great job with this activity Miss Mullins!!

SD 46 Superintendent, Patrick Bocking, came to PHSS this morning for a visit and had a chance to engage in some meaningful conversations with some of our students. He was really impressed with the dialogue and now has a better understanding of the needs of our students. Thanks to the students who spent time to speak with Mr. Bocking. After our meeting I had to attend a Bargaining Meeting at the SBO, in Gibsons. Thanks to Ms. Terry for covering for me while I was out of the building. Until tomorrow. Mr. H

Ashley McIntosh is facilitating the iGirl Workshop for our Grade7-9 students. Topics being tackled include: what to expect from puberty, safety on the internet, understanding what makes a healthy body image, and how to be assertive in even the toughest situations. Thanks to the Pender Harbour Community School for bring this workshop to us!

Facilitator, Valerie Mason-John, did a great job working with our Grade 9 boys today. She addressed preparing teens to think about themselves as positive leaders, as well as exploring self-esteem issues. I was really impressed with the workshop. Thanks to the Community School for their support in getting this organized for us.

It was great to be back to school after spending yesterday at the SBO having meetings. The PHL resumed, at lunch, today and the team I play for pulled out a victory. The level of participation is excellent in the PHL-- both teams today were co-ed. I look forward to taking four PHSS students to meet the BC Minister of Education, George Abbott, on Monday morning. It should be a positive experience for all of us. It looks like it will be a nice weekend. Enjoy some family time. Until next week. Mr. H

Mrs. Terry will be in for me today. Good luck to our Grade 7 Boys who will be participating in the SD46 Elementary School Volleyball Tournament. Until tomorrow. Mr. H

Vow of Silence: We won't stand by while children are subjected to exploitation, poverty and denial of basic rights. Every day, millions of children are silenced by these abuses. Today's "Vow of Silence" represents taking a stand for children everywhere.

Two members of the "We Team," Karly and Riley, spoke to the student and staff about the "Vow of Silence," which will be happening next Wednesday, November 30th. The "Vow of Silence" is a sign that we are against child labour and exploitation. You may want to ask your child for their thoughts on this. Later in the day I stopped by Mr. Wall's Woodworking class. One of his senior students is working on a Foosball Table-- I am amazed at the interesting and challenging projects that he has his students doing!
