Dutch Baby with Lemon Sugar
Ms. McOuat had her Grade 7/8 students make the sensationally simple Dutch Baby, which is a cross between a pancake and a popover, said to have originated at a restaurant in Seattle. I was treated with a piece with whipped cream-- it was delicious. Good job!!
Congratulations Award Winners
We had the PHSS Awards Assembly today and it was a wonderful opportunity for us to recognize our students achievement this past year. I will post the award winners on the web page. Thanks to our family members and friends for joining us for this recognition assembly.
Grad Prank
We were welcomed by a variety of changes when we arrived at school this morning. Our grads pranked us in a variety of unique ways-- some were in good fun, while others not so.
Thanks to the staff and students who helped clean up so we could prepare for our Awards Assembly.
Band Concert a Success
The Grade 7 Band and the PHSS Senior Band played to a full house at the Pender Harbour School of Music last evening. Two of our grade 11 students, Ryleigh Lightbourn and Carly Fielding, were guest conductors for the Grade 7 Band, while the Senior Band worked out their introductions by committee and it worked out well.
Overall it was a great evening of music. Thanks to the students for playing beautifully. Thank you to our parents and friends for coming to see our students play. Lastly, I want to thank Ms. MacInnes for preparing the two groups so well for the performance. Bravo!!

The Cartesian Coordinate System
The Cartesian coordinate system was developed by the mathematician Descartes during an illness. As he lay in bed sick, he saw a fly buzzing around on the ceiling, which was made of square tiles. As he watched he realized that he could describe the position of the fly by the ceiling tile he was on. After this experience he developed the coordinate plane to make it easier to describe the position of objects.
Today Mr. Lewis had his students working on the inter-write board plotting points in the various quadrants. The students seemed to enjoy the activity on the inter-write board.
