Provincial Exams Today and Tomorrow
Students are busy writing Provincial Exams today and tomorrow. Friday is a turn around day and students will not have classes. Regular classes resume on Monday, the start of Semester 2.
If you son or daughter has an afternoon exam and they normally ride the bus, you may want to check with them to ensure that they will have enough time to write their provincial exam. Students are allowed 3 hours to complete their provincial exams, so if they need all of the time it may be good to arrange alternative transportation if they feel that they'll need the extra time. Thanks for working with us to ensure that your kids have the best opportunity to be successful!

Technology Meeting/ Secondary Principals
I had a meeting with our Technology Committee today and we are looking at initiating an I-Pad Project here at PHSS. We have some ground work left to do, but it seems like an exciting possibility.
I am off to another meeting (Secondary Principals' Meeting) in Sechelt shortly. It is starting off to be a busy week.
Just a reminder that we have provincial exams this week and Friday is a Turn-Around Day, so students have the day off. Semester 2 starts on Monday, January 30th! It is hard to believe that we are halfway through the year. For your information, we will be sending out a newsletter, along with report cards, early in February.
Have a good evening.

PAC Meeting Cancelled Due to Road Conditions
If you haven't checked your answering machine this visual will let you know about the PAC Meeting cancellation. It is suppose to drop to minus 10 Celsius, so despite the main roads being bare at this hour (2:15 pm) the roads are bound to be challenging later tonight.
I have spoken to Larry Curtiss (Bus driver/owner) and he will call me first thing in the morning if there are any delays or cancellations for tomorrow. If there are cancellations I will send out a message via the school auto-dial program. 91.7 on the FM dial will also post any cancellations.
Have a good evening and stay warm!

Power Outage to Start the Day
We have a resilient staff and study body, that weathered the power outage and lack of water, due to the loss of power this morning, here at Pender Harbour Secondary. I appreciated the great work of our SD 46 electrician, Jim Cooper, who worked with BC Hydro to rectify the problem in an expeditious fashion. Hopefully the rest of the day will go smoothly.

Beautiful Sunrise
I was coming from the Sechelt Pool this morning and saw the beautiful sunrise. Sometimes one has to take the time to enjoy our surroundings. I took advantage of this and wanted to share what I saw. We are certainly blessed to live here on the Sunshine Coast and see the beauty this place offers.

Observation & More
I had a busy day which started with a call indicating that we were short a TOC today. With some juggling and cooperation, from some of our part-time staff, we were able to make it work today. I was able to do an observation in one of our classes, which went really well. After lunch hour supervision I covered two classes. It certainly was action packed.
Until tomorrow.
